FAQ

What are the important Places to Visit?

Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Jaffna, Kataragama, Nuwara Eliya, Anuradhapura, The Kingdom of Polonnaruwa , Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ratnapura ("City of Gems”).

Sri Lanka’s Cultural triangle.

Sri Lanka’s Cultural triangle is situated in the centre of the island and covers an area which includes the World Heritage cultural sites of the Sacred City of Anuradhapura, the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, the Ancient City of Sigiriya, the Ancient City of Dambulla and the Sacred City of Kandy. Due to the constructions and associated historical events, some of which are millennia old, these sites are of high universal value; they are visited by many pilgrims, both laymen and the clergy (prominently Buddhist), as well as by local and foreign tourists.

Hill Country of Sri Lanka.

Hill countries would not be more picturesque anywhere in the world; come view our spectacular parks, wade through unparalleled forests, climb the most dramatic hills and taste the most aromatic teas. From Sinharaja forest to Adam’s Peak to the cool breeze of Nuwara eliya – the hill country has much to offer the adventurous traveler in you!

Things To Do in Sri Lanka.

You will never run out of things to do here in Sri Lanka! Be it Colombo or even Anuradhapura, you will never run out of sights to see, adventures to be had or even food to be tasted! In Colombo you will be spoilt for choice- especially in Pettah, where all commodities are inexpensive and very, VERY low priced, and each commodity has a separate street for your convenience! Try Unwatuna for rave parties, try Kandy or Anuradhapura for a bit of Sinhalese culture, and Jaffna for their mouthwatering Jaffna cuisine! There are lots of places to see !

Hot Air Ballooning in Sri Lanka.

Hot air ballooning rides offer an amazing and awe inspiring experience where you will be able to experience Sri Lankan wildlife and capricious sceneries from a appealing point of view. Enjoy rippling views of flora and fauna, widespread shorelines, scattered with portions of Sri Lankan life, all from up above. Hot air balloon tours can also be organized to contain historical sites as well in and around Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.

Why Sigiriya is Special?

It is an ancient palace located near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavangsha, this site was selected by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure - Sihagiri, the Lion Rock. The capital and the royal palace were abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. It is the most visited historic site in Sri Lanka.

What to Eat in Sri Lanka?

Ah, the food in Sri Lanka. We have quite an assortment when it comes to cuisine- but each and every item has a Sri Lankan twist to it! Must tries are achcharu, made using semi-raw fruit such as mango, pineapple, wood apple, etc. If your holiday is spent close to the beach, you can watch our fishermen bring in the catch of the day and savour it yourself just a few hours later!

Sri Lanka prides itself in our main meal, which is rice and curry. Breakfast specialties include crunchy hoppers and white or red string hoppers, milk rice with spicy onion sambol and thosai. Come, indulge in all specialties Sri Lanka has to offer!
