On Arrival you will be transferred to Sonmarg. Sonmarg - the Meadow of Gold, drive to Sonmarg is another spectacular facet of country side in Kashmir in Sindh Valley. The Sindhu Valley is the largest tributary of the valley of Kashmir. Panoramic village reach Sonmarg (2740 Mtrs). Overnight stay at the hotel.

Depart from Sonmarg as per road opening timings. Drive to Kargil the road passes through the Continue drive towards Drass (The second coldest inhibited place in the world). Another two and half hours drive will take us to Kargil (2710 Mtrs) which has got its importance after opening the Ladakh for tourists in 1974. Reach Kargil. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Depart from Kargil after early Breakfast, en-route visiting the monastery of Mulbekh & Lamayuru & Moonlandscape passing through Namkila & Fatula Passes, The highest pass on the Srinagar- Leh road and proceed to Leh enroute visit 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues., Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia) Overnight stay at the Hotel.

After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu Darshan visit. later visit Leh Palace & Shanti Stupa, Later in the evening walk around Local Market.

After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft) Arrive at Hundur by Afternoon. Rest of the day, Post lunch free to explore Deskit, Hunder Villages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay at the camp.

What time is considered as the best for visiting Ladakh?

Mid May through October is considered the best seasons to plan a trip to Ladakh. The temperatures during this time of the day vary about 20-30 degree Celsius with warm and sunnyweather.

How can we reach Ladakh?

There are three ways to reach Ladakh- 1) you can take flight from Delhi to Leh from major airlines such as Indian Airlines or Jet Airways. 2) You can take road journeys either from Manali or Srinagar. It takes 2 day journey (474 kilometers) from Manali to Leh via Keylong with a night stopover in Sarchu. On the other hand, Srinagar to Leh will take 2 days (434 kilometers) with a night halt at Kargil. All the roads remain open from May to October.

Do I need any official permit to visit Ladakh?

You need to have a valid Inner Line Permits, if you are interested in undertaking a tour, especially to the restricted areas such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake and Tsmoriri Lake. These permits are issued by Deputy Commissioner Office in Leh. These permits hold the validity for 1 week.

Is there any lack of oxygen in Ladakh?

Anybody travelling 10,000 above sea level will find difficulty in breathing or is likely to fall prey to altitude 
sickness. It happens due to low level of atmospheric oxygen.

What kind of accommodation is available in Ladakh?

What kind of clothes should we bring there?

T-shirts and shorts can do during the daytime but after evening the climate gets chilly and one requires jacket and pullover. If you are trekking 4000 meters above sea level, you need warm woolen clothes. Rain and snowfall can take place in June and July and therefore wind cheaters and raincoats are good. If you are into trekking, a pair of waterproof shoes is a must.

Are there any ATM’s in Leh?

Leh has four ATM’s owned by Axis Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank and State Bank of India.

Do credit cards work in hotels and restaurants?

Yes, credit cards are accepted in a few hotels and restaurants but 2% service tax is charged.

You will find good internet connectivity in the Leh region only and not anywhere else.
